ADIQUAT

Paraquat dichloride 24% SL is a broad-spectrum, non-selective contact herbicide from the bipyridyl group, widely used for the rapid control of annual grasses and broadleaf weeds. It is formulated as a soluble liquid that mixes easily with water and acts only on the plant parts it directly contacts. Paraquat works by disrupting photosynthesis, producing reactive oxygen species that quickly damage plant cells and cause fast desiccation, often within hours. Because it is not significantly translocated and binds strongly to soil, it is mainly used for pre-plant burndown, inter-row weed control, plantation crops, and non-crop areas. Despite its effectiveness and quick action, paraquat is highly toxic to humans and animals, requiring strict safety measures and regulated use.
